Winter Portfolio

This week I made my portfolio for the Winter Project. I chose the photos that I thought were best among my four drafts and tried to maintain cohesiveness between my photos, whether by color, vibrancy or silhouette strength and type. In some cases I edited photos I chose from older drafts to improve them and make them work better together. The photos are separated between those that have softer colors in the first five and more aggressive and vibrant colors in the last five.

Winter 4

This week I made my fourth batch of silhouettes for my Winter project based on the Starn Twins. For this batch I focused on the effect from the color in background on the silhouettes of the trees I collected. Using different shades and different colors, I created a variety of color blends that I thought  added to the vibe and connotation of the silhouettes in the photos. I also tried to increase the sharpness of the silhouettes and control the parts of the photo in focus in my photographing and through editing.

Winter 3

This week I worked on the third batch of my silhouette Winter Project. Instead of trying to change the variety of the objects I used for my photos, I changed the organization and complexity the objects that I did use. I also experimented with the contrast between the silhouette and the background, and added textures in some cases to give the photos a different feeling or connotation. For next week, I would like to potentially work on improving my editing choices with the texture, the background and their contrast with my silhouettes.

Winter Project 2

This week I worked on draft 2 of my winter project. I tried to use different backgrounds and editing techniques to refine the silhouettes in my photos. I also used the temperature adjustment in picmonkey in order to provide some of the coloring to my photos. Next week I still want to find a wider variety of subjects for my silhouettes since I tend to want to use high isolated structures like trees and poles in my silhouettes.

Winter Project 1 (Silhouettes - The Starn Twins)

For this week we started our winter projects and made a first draft. For my winter I made silhouettes based off of the Starn Twin's examples with trees. I setup my photos such that an object or objects would be in the foreground and a light would be in the background. This would make my objects turn dark and become a silhouette. Next time I would like to add more of a variety of objects to my photos since this draft consists of mostly trees. I would also like to potentially commit to a theme or themes in future drafts.
